This was a glorious week for TV. Avatar: The Last Airbender and Project Runway both returned with new episodes. PR started it’s 5th season on Wednesday night. Avatar continued with the final episodes of its third (and final) season.
Today we had an Avatarathon with another family of Avatar fans, the Brats. They have two boys, ages 7 and 11. But the real reason we invited them over to view the final movie (we recorded last night) was because the parents, Joel and Cheryl, are just as big Avatar fans as Jim and I. So we had a big geek-out. Personally, I’ve never invited friends over to watch cartoons before. At least not since I was 7 or 8. I won’t spoil the ending, but I will say that I was on the edge of my seat and if you’ve never seen the show, well...I suppose I can still be your friend. But only if you go out right now and rent Book One on DVD.
As for PR, this proves to be a good season. I’m unsure of the talent yet, but there are plenty of characters already showing themselves. Suede and Blayne are at the top of my “please send them home now so I don’t have to endure them for another moment” list. But that usually guarantees they’ll stay, at least for a while.
The only thing that could have made TV any better this week was if Battlestar Galactica had returned from its mid-season break. What’s up with this whole mid-season finale thing anyway? HBO, you started a bad thing. Bring back BG. They humans finally find earth and now you decide to take a break??!! Please. Show a little kindness.
