Changing my blog habits

I noticed recently that is has been almost 11 months since I began this blog and for a while I was really cranking. Now my contributions to the blogosphere are on a decline and it is certainly not for lack of things to write about. My kids are as crazy as ever. Life is busy. Complex. Interesting. I think the problem is that I typically blog at night, after I’m officially done for the day. But that is also the time of day when I read and so my blog posts seem to decrease in direct relation to how much I’m loving my current book. I’ve just been on a reading bing--4 good ones in a row. First I re-read David Mitchell’s nearly perfect “Black Swan Green”. This is a favorite of mine so even though I’ve read it before I still could not put it down. Next was “Cities of the Plain” which is the third book in Cormac McCarthy’s Border Trilogy. “All the Pretty Horses” and “The Crossing” are both so amazing I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to the third book in the trilogy. I’m not done yet as I had to put it aside in order to finish David Sedaris’ latest “When You Are Engulfed in Flames”. There was a time limit on this as I wanted to have it read before I went to see him at a book signing about two weeks ago. I was totally intrigued by the less overtly funny stories in this one (there are, of course, some very funny stories as usual). My favorite was ‘The Smoking Section’ where he goes to live in Japan in order to quit smoking. Finally, I’m now reading Ann Patchett’s “Bel Canto” which is wonderful. But I’m only half way through so I’ll let you know what I think after it ends. This is always the true test of a good book and a good blog post. The ending.
