Welcome to the First Church Quilters web site!

Our group’s connection to Renewal House is just one part of the many activities that comprise First Church in Belmont’s call to Social Action.

We are a group of women who meet weekly at the First Church in Belmont, Unitarian Universalist to make quilts for the children who come to Renewal House, a shelter and program for women seeking to break the cycle of domestic violence. We also create quilted  “welcome bags” for the women who arrive at Renewal House. Renewal House is part of the UU Urban Ministry in Boston.

The efforts of our small group’s partnership with Renewal House are enhanced by the larger church membership who donate fabrics, knot-tying skills, and personal care items such as shampoo, towels, baby wipes and soaps to fill the welcome bags. Please enjoy our photo gallery and visit the “about us” page to learn how you can create a similar partnership in your community, or join our group. Thank you for visiting!
