Session 1 - “Redemption: From Creation to Eternity” - Rabbi Daniel Thomson

The hidden dangers of too near sighted a view of the Egyptian passover and the Last Passover celebrated by Christ and his disciples are explored.  Expanding upon the various contexts of Passover beginning at the creation of the world, this session will examine the words of Jesus and some of the Jewish traditions surrounding the concept of redemption.

Session 2 - “Setting the Stage for Redemption” - Rabbi Daniel Thomson

In this session, we will focus on why God chose to create a crisis - the Jewish redemption from Egypt might have been unnecessary if they had never gone down to dwell there.  Why create the famine which drove Jacob and his sons to a foreign land?  Why was Egypt the chosen location for the story of redemption to find its expression?  An overview of the Bible and various Jewish traditions will be examined for answers.

Session 3 - “The First Passover:  Redemption of a Nation” - Rabbi Daniel Thomson

The week of preparation leading up to the deliverance, each day’s events unfolding, the mood of Egypt and the mood of Israel will be covered in this session.  Symbolism of the blood application, inspection process, meaning behind the broken bones, ridding the home of leaven and other biblical concepts will be examined.

Session 5 - “The Second Passover: Redemption of Mankind I” - Rabbi Daniel Thomson

The week of preparation leading up to the crucifixion, each day’s events unfolding, the mood of Rome and the mood of Israel will be covered in this session.  Symbolism will be explored, tying together biblical history, the Law and Jewish traditions regarding the binding of Isaac, the willing bondservant, the High Priest’s inauguration and term of office, the dual function of the redeemer, and the “prophet” like Moses.

Session 6 - “The Second Passover: Redemption of Mankind II”

“The Third Passover: Redemption of Individuals” - Rabbi Daniel Thomson

A study regarding our own personal responsibility to the Lamb slain to effect our release from sin’s slavery.  We will discuss how we are expected to live after our identity change, even when our desire to be holy fluctuates so rapidly that it may seem we are still enslaved to the world and its systems.

Session 7 - “The Fourth Passover: Redemption of Creation” - Rabbi Daniel Thomson

In conclusion, we examine the future of mankind and what Passover can teach us about it.  We will examine the parallels of the exodus with the biblical prophecies regarding the end of days and the eventual redemption of all creation.
