Apparition
Apparition
Today there is no Atlantic swell. The sea is as flat as a pancake. The incessant wind has dropped to a still calm. A soft, gentle drizzle falls. The tide is far out, oyster catchers feed amongst the exposed seaweed. There is a spring tide, the highest water of 2.3 metres will be at 18.07. Eyes are focused out in to the misty west. The tension mounts, the expectation is unbearable. Rumour is there may be a Visitation. The mythical Keewhit might make an appearance. All the signs are there for an apparition, a third in nine months. The conditions are ideal - we must wait and see...
