The Garden of Eden

Where was the Garden of Eden?
Was the Garden of Eden "local"?

One way the "whole earth" explanation applies to Adam and Eve, however, is the suggestion that the Garden of Eden was likely also a local phenomenon -- a "small" garden plot somewhere in the middle of the earth, where Adam and Eve could be brought and made temporarily immortal, given a spirit, taught language and writing, taught science, given the law and a conscience, etc. Then when they were kicked out they went into the neighboring lands and became normal (mortal). After awhile, the Garden was taken or faded away.
