George Reeves Calendar
Special thanks to Jim Nolt and Lou Koza for permission to use the George Reeves Calendar at The Adventures Continue website.
And special thanks to all those who reported bugs, suggestions, and historical corrections!
Look - on your desktop! It’s a calendar! It’s a tribute to George Reeves! It’s the -
Yes, it’s the George Reeves Calendar, strange software application from another planet, which came to your desktop with powers and abilities far beyond those of ordinary calendars!
The calendar is available for both Microsoft Windows® and Apple Macintosh®. And it’s free!
Today’s date is indicated by the S-shield (which in this illustration is February 15, 2009).
Holidays are indicated by the Superman-belt (for example, February 14).
Reminders are indicated by Clark Kent’s glasses (for example, February 8).
Click on a date and if something significant in the history of George Reeves happened on that date, then the information is displayed in the lower left-hand corner. In the picture above, I clicked on February 15th (as indicated by the dark grey outline surrounding that day) and learned that on that date in 1955, TV Fan magazine published an article about George entitled, “Superman is Only Human.”
If you hover your cursor over a date that has either a holiday or a reminder associated with it, then a tip window appears and displays the relevant information. In the example above, I placed my cursor over February 8th and was reminded that my sister Susan’s birthday is on that day.
Did I neglect to mention that the calendar is customizable? Well, excuse me! Yes, as a matter of fact, the calendar allows you to add reminders for significant dates. And, if you’re a real George Reeves history buff, you can even add your own user-defined events to the calendar! In addition, you can set the window background color as well as the font color to anything you like.
It seems like there’s something I’m forgetting to mention...what is it...oh yea!!!!
The calendar displays...
PICTURES!
As the screenshots directly above and below illustrate, you can add your own personal reminders to associate with a particular date. And, you can specify a time during the day when that reminder should be displayed. Why, you can even specify how often you want the reminder to occur: weekly, monthly, yearly, on the first Tuesday of every month, weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays, etc.
In the screenshot above, I clicked on December 24th and from the Reminder menu, selected the command “Add...”. That made the “Add Reminder for 12/24/2009” dialog appear as you see in the screenshot below. I then typed in the text of my reminder (in this case, a reminder about the party at my good friend Carl’s scheduled for Christmas Eve).
...of George, Jack Larson, Noel Neill, John Hamilton, and Robert Shayne, as well as various scenes from the Adventures of Superman, and pictures of other folks who have some connection to George or the Superman character. The calendar also plays animations created specially for the calendar. And as if that weren’t enough, you can even run a slide show of all the pictures contained within the calendar.

George Reeves Calendar for Windows - version 3.0
This will download a program called Setup.exe to your computer. When you see the dialog that asks: “Do you want to run or save this file?” click the Save button. You will then see the “Save As” dialog which allows you to navigate to a location where the Setup.exe program will be deposited. Once you have navigated to the location of your choice, click the Save button. You should now see a progress window that gives you a report on the status of the download and an estimate of how much time it will take to complete. (It should take about one minute, depending on the speed of your internet connection.)
Once the download has completed, the progress window will announce “Download Complete”. If you have checked the box that reads: “Close this dialog box when download completes” the progress window will go away. At that point, you will have to navigate to the location where the download deposited the Setup.exe program. Once you find it, all you have to do is double-click Setup.exe and it will install the George Reeves Calendar on your PC.
On the other hand, if you did not check the “Close this dialog box when download completes” checkbox, then the progress window will remain open. All you have to do is to click the Run button in the progress window and this will launch the Setup.exe program, which will install the George Reeves Calendar on your PC.
A Note About Running Setup.exe For Those Who Already Had Version 2.0
If you have previously installed version 2.0 of the George Reeves Calendar on your computer, then you should first Uninstall version 2.0. Pick the George Reeves Calendar from the list and click Remove (or Uninstall) This will remove version 2.0 from your computer. Then, run the Setup.exe program for version 3.0 that you downloaded to install version 3.0 on your computer.
