Feature article

Adjunctivitis:
Jazz Education
Faces the Music

a commentary on the pervasive use of adjunct Jazz artist faculty in academia, unaddressed issues, the pros and cons of unionization, and suggested solutions for the future.

Originally published in Jazz Changes, quarterly of the International Association of Jazz Schools (IASJ).

Apart from his work as an artist and educator, Richard is a published author of method books (Jazz Riffs for Guitar, Jazz Chords for Guitar) and journalist for numerous music magazines and educational journals including Just Jazz Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Piano and Keyboard, JazzOne and
Jazz Changes, the official publication of the International Association of Jazz Schools (IASJ).

His writings focus on technical and historical aspects of Brazilian music, Jazz, and the growing challenges faced by today's Jazz artist-educators and the academic institutions they serve.
