In 2005 a friend of mine convinced me to walk the Breast Cancer 3 Day. I wasn’t sure I wanted to participate in something as demanding as walking 60 miles in 3 days. I didn’t think breast cancer really affected me.

As I fundraised and trained for the walk I discovered several close family connections to breast cancer. I looked at my young nieces and thought of them having to go through the breast cancer experience, either helping their mother through it or as friends, sisters, or patients themselves.

I realized that I had to commit myself to helping eradicate this disease, because I really do believe that everyone deserves a lifetime.

This year I have partnered with the very talented Lisa Leonard 

to create this unique piece of jewelry.

A sterling square is hammered and hand-stamped to encourage hope, and the ribbon reminds us of the cause. Strung on pink cord with an adjustable clasp to customize the length.

The price of the necklace is $40 plus $2 for shipping, of which 40% will be donated to the Breast Cancer 3 Day, whose main beneficiary is Komen For The Cure (formerly Susan G. Komen For The Cure).
