President Bill Clinton visited Raglan road today. Sadly it wasn’t our Pub, but the road in Dublin which inspired that name over our door.
President Clinton is in town to attend a fund raiser for his wife’s campaign to win the Democratic nomination for the 2008 Presidential contest.
Raglan Road is located on the southside of Dublin city in the leafy environs of Ballsbridge, the purple patch of Dublin’s real estate map.
Raglan Road was made famous by Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh who lived in a bedsit on this road. He wrote a poem called ‘Dark Haired Miriam Ran Away’...a story of unrequited love. The poem was made famous when Luke Kelly of The Dubliners put a melody to the poem. The song became known as ‘Raglan Road’
