My latest work is a continuation of my investigation into the way our memories are shaped by the domestic spaces in our history. In order to frame the memories into a tangible experience of the presence or lack of detail, I built houses that I have lived in at some point in my life, using floor plans drawn from memory and recollections from photographs of the exteriors I made of all these houses while on a road trip with my mother.
The presence or lack of walls, windows, doors and other specific details in the photographed models indicates the presence/absence of memory of the details of the space, while the black and white image takes the work out of a specific place and time, allowing the viewer to investigate their own relationship to spatial memory.
This project is still very much in progress, so check back often as I will continue to create and upload more images.
