Rachel is a versatile painter using a variety of water media, sometimes accentuated with collaged papers.  In her paintings she aims to express her love of people, colors and shapes.

Born in Poland, Rachel was fortunate to immigrate to Palestine two weeks before the start of World War II.  She grew up in Israel and eventually realized her childhood dream to become a doctor.  Following graduation from medical school she moved to New York where she trained in clinical Medicine and Pathology at Montefiore Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  She later served for 30 years as a faculty member retiring as professor of Pathology and Pediatrics in 1994.

Retiring was difficult and it took several attempts and a move to California to finally accept it. 

Her first encounter with painting was in a beginner’s workshop in Sedona Arizona.  She was hooked and was beginning to feel that there was life after Medicine.

In San Diego, she joined the San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS) where she took innumerable workshops and some private lessons.   This changed her life; from the beginning she was welcomed, encouraged and supported by the many Wonderful members of that society. 

Although she and her husband moved some 70 miles north of San Diego, she continues to exhibit in the SDWS monthly-juried exhibits.

Her paintings are frequent recipients of honors and awards.
