parenting to change the world

I’m proud to announce the launch today of a new parenting blog for which I am a contributing writer [my introductory post goes up on Friday]:  Anti-Racist Parent.

Anti-Racist Parent was creating by the team behind the Racialicious race-and-pop-culture blog and the Addicted to Race podcast as a forum for discussion about the intersection of race and parenting.

An anonymous commenter on a post on Rice Daddies last week complained that a dadblog would spend so much time discussing race and racism.  “Let’s try to stick to the topic,” the commenter wrote.  To which another anonymous commenter replied, “Racism is a parenting issue.”

Now, we have a place on-line dedicated to that notion, and to the hope that, by raising our children—of all colors and backgrounds—according to an anti-racist philosophy, we can parent to change the world.  Please spread the word, and join us.
