Here we are, sis Serena, friends Siobhan & Delia, & I, to see the land of the Incas. Our two week
trip, in mid-April 2006, took us to see intricately built Inca ruins, the lush, humid jungle and the clear blue waters of Lake Titicaca.
Our first stop was to the Sacred Valley to help acclimate to the altitude. Cuzco is at a bit over 10,000’, whereas the Sacred Valley is between 8,000’ to 9’500. The altitude was quite a challenge to us flat landers, but the scenery was worth the headaches. The various Inca ruins we toured were amazing, especially Machu Picchu, which was a jaw-dropping experience in person. The ruins outside of Cuzco were also a worthwhile visit, as they are all very different.
