another day on the road...

Out of the house this morning at 6:00 am and after two hours I arrived in Eugene to present at a conference/training for lawyers.  Did a “team teaching” format with a woman who is one of the goddesses of child abuse and neglect law.  I talked about how judges are being trained on permanency hearings, she talked about tactics and tips for representing clients in permanency hearings.  It was a great session with about an hour of just open question and answer.  I love that kind of thing.

Then I was back in the car; it was 11:00 am.

Drove to my office in Salem, picked up materials I would need at my next stop, grabbed a burrito at Muchas Gracias and, an hour an a half later or so there I was sitting in a room, at Salishan Lodge at the coast, with twenty some judges, talking to them about policy from the bench.

As I left a judge approached me to “pick my brain” about a case.  I love it when people say that to me.  I gave him a slant on the situation that he had not consider and he left thinking about it.

It was two and half hours more driving getting home, bringing ling cod, from my second favorite fish market on the coast (my favorite was ten miles in the opposite direction--didn’t take the twenty extra minutes).

I was up at four am, revising and sending out stuff from the Committee on the Faith and Practice session yesterday.  It’s now 7:32 pm and I am watching a football game that looked like upset in the making (the baseball play off game was postponed for rain) but it only looked that way.  Favorites usually win and, as my Old Daddy used to say, “Pick winners, son.”.

It’s all good.

“If it suddenly ended tomorrow,
Somehow i’d adjust to the fall...”

But would it be a fall?

Will it be a fall?
