Lambeth Day 3
On the third day of Lambeth, my true love sent to me...
...another day of retreat at Canterbury Cathedral.
Personally, I felt myself finally starting to slow down and realize I am here now. Also that Jesus is here too. There is a lightness that characterizes our interactions, a sense of some pleasure in being together not as a big conference of muckity-mucks, but rather as church, worshipping, praying, reading the Bible, listening to sermons. Rowan Williams is speaking from deep within his own life as a bishop, and it is effective. Our retreat ends tomorrow.
The hard work, however, has already begun in the Bible study groups, from all reports. People are not here to “play nice.” We have all come “to make straight the way of the Lord” in our Communion (studying John 1). What that means and what that will take remain to be seen. Tonight I have a growing sense of hope. There are a lot more bishops here than were expected...
Here’s another gallery with the new Panasonic Lumix.
Hasta la mañana...
