Fort Egypt

Fort Egypt is an 1800 square foot, two story log house built in what was then the wilderness of Virginia two decades before the colonies declared independence from Great Britain.  It has survived relatively unaltered (and in its original location) for 250 years. Built sturdily of 20”-25” diameter logs during a time of Indian uprisings in the area, the house is truly a fortress against the elements.

Fort Egypt is located on a 150 acre farm in the Massanutten region of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, a relatively undeveloped countryside consisting mostly of farmland and forest. With rolling hills, fertile fields, woodland, and 2000 feet of frontage on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, the farm on which Fort Egypt resides provides an abundance of outdoor activities.

Fort Egypt is a large log house built circa 1758 in Page County, Virginia. It is one of a small number of large pioneer houses remaining in the area and is in an excellent state of preservation. Very few structural changes have been made to the house in the 250 years it has been in existence. It is located on a 150 acre farm on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River.
