historically the word “pud” originated with the greeks. The god Pudiferis (silent “s”) was the mock of the heavenly society. He was unathletic and clumsy. However he balanced his gift for failure with heart and determination.  It was his personal motivation that made him stride for sports but quickly fail. After the destruction of the great roman empire, the word was thought to be lost forever. Hundreds of years later, in the stomach of a chinese goose, the word was discovered. The word “pud” today refers to the individual who is least likely to excel at a certain activity. ex- Jim is bad at math. Jim is a math pud.
