Rock Balancing

Peter Riedel’s work is at once permanent and impermanent, in that it alters the organization of the natural landscape. His transient sculptures contradict the permanence of traditional art; yet his photographs strive to record what shall eventually vanish.
The photographs are not the purpose, but rather the end result in the creative process.

                                         Box Assemblages

From junkyards to backyards to flea markets, raw materials are gathered, sorted and finally, married inside these box assemblages making them at once familiar and strange and open to interpretation.
Peter’s box assemblages encourage the viewer to interpret and ponder with no right or wrong analysis. The elements are enclosed and organized within a framework drawing the viewer in, allowing you to appreciate the smallest details easily overlooked at a glance.
