Richard Brignoli, in summer 1961, in Canterbury Ct. That summer, Richard, his wife- to- be Susan Rosen, Stanley, Richard’s close friend, and members of the Gruenberg and Rosen family, shingled the 18th--century house owned by the Gruenbergs. Lillian Gruenberg had inherited the saltbox house from her parents, farmers who immigrated from Finland. The historic house was built by a member of the Bradford family, whose forebear, Major John Bradford was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1653. The second set of photographs shows a picnic at Joe Wright’s Pond. (For the history of the mill pond in 1645 and later,  http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ct/middlesex/bios/wright2gbs). Richard and I took Schatzi, our family dog, on a long walk deep into the forest to Wright’s pond, accompanied by my mother, Beate-Caspari Rosen, M.D. and the distinguished English psychiatrist Michael  Shepherd, M.D. (1923--1995). To build a fireplace, I forded a stream to retrieve rocks. Richard took charge of most of the cooking. My mother, a devotee of the New York Times’ crossword puzzle, had taken along a Sunday puzzle to solve, while Michael photographed and amused us with his wry humor.

These pictures have been included for several reason. Insofar as my drawings of Richard are concerned, they verify the accuracy of my drawn and painted likenesses of him. As my web site expands the other reasons will become apparent.
