Lama Tashi, Robin’s partner in Kauai, completed the traditional three year retreat with Lama Tsang Tsing. When we decided to go to Sikkim Robin arranged for us to visit Lama-la at his home/monastery near Gangtok. We were off the road completely and thoroughly enjoyed Lama-las great humor and loving care.
Lama Tsang Tsing’s in Sikkim
Robin and Lama Tsang Tsing in front of his monastery
Lama advised us to go to his home first as the trail was a bit rough and went through some dense patches like this bamboo forest
It also opened into some beautiful views
Part of the trail was lined with prayer flags
His home was a traditional farm house, humble but comfortable

The next morning a member of the family  gathered some water for us to wash
The building to the right is the outhouse
Our very comfortable beds
The efficient kitchen
Outside the cows received their usual special treatment
This man and his family live on Lama-la’s land and help to take care of the animals and garden
His adorable children were ready to pose
His wife brought some feed for the cattle
There were all kinds of little plots of things to eat
The chickens were happy
What’s that in the garden

Down the hill a bit was Lama’s Mother’s house

This fellow was making some new beds. In the background you can see evidence of a recent avalanche
