The Fiat Punto: Transportation of champions

Today I had my first day of work with Redmatch in Rosh Ha’ayin. Getting there from Tel Aviv was a trek- I took a bus from the carmelite to the train station, a train to north Rosh Ha’ayin, and a cab to the industrial park where the office is. The entire voyage took about an hour and a half, which made me all the more appreciative of company car that I got to drive home in. It’s an ’04 white Fiat Punto, drives like a fox, and is complete with the Redmatch logo on the back bumper. It took 40 minutes to drive home.

This is for Grampa: Redmatch is a job recruitment company that creates matching software to connect employers with job candidates in real-time. My title there is Marketing Specialist and I work on marketing strategy and strategic planning for the US and Canadian markets. I’ll also be working with Redmatch’s clients and perspective clients on creating and managing their accounts. Now you know what to tell people at synagogue when they ask what the heck I’m doing over here.

The day was long, but fun and interesting. Lots of nice people at the office... I am by far the youngest one there, and the only American... this is GREAT for my Hebrew. My boss is enthusiastic and smart, and, most importantly, he believes in me. He told me that the most important part of my job is independence--- being able to create and problem solve on my own. I’ll be working directly with him on setting goals, but going about achieving them is up to me. For the first while I’ll be in training, learning the company, its products and its market, but after that, I’ll be given as much creative flexibility as I can handle to get my job done.

And now, I am home. Leroy is ready for a run and so am I, so shalom, good people.
