Pay no attention to the laundry pile up in the photo. I’d like to start by saying that I’ve figured out how to do some new things with my blog, including how to link to other pages, and allowing you guys to post comments. We are becoming very advanced!
Today we’re going to start the painting. In all of my experience in the painting world (there is no sarcasm here), I’ve discovered a secret to a good paint job- good music. Having an awesome soundtrack will make the job fun and easy. Our manual labor mix includes Los Lobos, Talking Heads, Brazilian Girls, and a couple of hits from Danny Schmidt’s rockin’ new album, Little Grey Sheep.
That being said, we are going to have a long, leisurely breakfast before we start anything. Israeli breakfasts are 90% of the reasoning behind my move here. They are, in a word, deeeeeeelushious. Lots of different cheeses, veggies, funky fruits, juices and breads. There is a juiceman around the corner that I somewhat frequent. My favorite is pomegranate juice, very yummy and healthy! It also tastes awesome spiked with vodka (no, not in the AM, duh), which I discovered yesterday afternoon with my new, old friend, Dave Sommers.
I now officially have 3 friends here in the holyland. This doesn’t include all of the psudo-family that I’ve acquired through my parents, such as Udi and Michal, who have made it very clear that I can, and should treat them like my Israel parents. They don’t know what they are in for... Gotta love them for that, though. Israelis are so incredibly brave.
I have another friend just around the corner. I met a very cool Seattlian...Seattlion...Seattleite? in the Interior Ministry last week. Tonight I’m going with her to her friend’s birthday party. She’s been here since September, so she knows lots of people around the city.
And now, party people, it is time for me to refill my coffee cup and think about getting the day started. Enjoy the hot, new, cutting edge features on the blog. Thanks to Andy Rein for suggesting the “add a comment” link.
