high schoolers are legit.

so i’ve gotten some really encouraging words since my post this morning. and for that, i want say thanks.  it’s so refreshing to not only to receive advice and direction, but to also know that people relate.  as i’m sure you all agree, it’s wonderful to not be “the only one.”

one person’s words really stuck out to me and i just had to share them with everyone.  it came from david’s little sister, natalie, who i absolutely love and adore.  she’s only a freshman in high school, but she’s beyond her years in so many ways. check it out:

“so this is my comment to the post you have, cause it was kindaa too long. my words will probably seem very naive to you but i'm giving this a try. :) everything we do should be for god. i'm positive you know this, but maybe you need a reminder. maybe you should look at why you care so much about these kids in uganda or why you're in san diego. you're doing really great things, but maybe you need to put your heart into it again FOR god. i know exactly what you feel like, because i've reached the point in my life where i need a relationship with god and i don't exactly know how to do that. i've always know everything's for god, but it just recently hit me. everything's for his glory and to make him known and to let god work through you so you can do great things for people and care and love people. i might not be making any sense and you might be reading this thinking "yea, natalie, okay. great, this is nothing new." but i'm telling you this because maybe you need someone to tell you again, maybe you need to crave god again. and starting with knowing this helped me and i think i'm ready to try, so maybe it will do you the same. i'm hoping i don't sound like an idiot, and i'm scared sending this to you, but i'm doing it anyway and i hope this helps. :D”

gahhh. i freaking LOVE her. it’s so beautiful to see someone with “child-like faith” live with such maturity.  it’s an incredible paradox and it’s something for which i believe we should strive.

so thanks, nat, for being courageous enough to say those words to me.

and as for the rest of you.. if you don’t know this girl, get to know her.  asap.
