This past weekend involved quite a bit of driving around LA. It's not a centralized city so it's pretty weird and spread out but luckily we had Jed, former roadie Blake, and one of my good friends Whitney to drive us around and show us the sights.
On Saturday, I got to hang out with Whitney, which was so great. For those of you who don’t know.. she and I went to college together and she moved out here and happened to live TWO blocks from Jed. Small freaking world, huh?
It was SO good for my heart to get to see her and catch up on life. It will be nice to have her be only a city away if I end up moving to San Diego.
On Sunday morning, Ben and I went to Ecclesia Hollywood with Whitney and her friend. It’s a church community mainly made up of people in the entertainment industry. The pastor is a music video director and Buster from Arrested Development is one of the elders.. just to give you an idea. The church held its service in an old movie theatre.. it was a small, modest congregation that exhibited a spirit of authenticity and sincere worship. It was VERY refreshing. These people are in such a dark industry and it was amazing to see how they are living as lights in that.
We met back up with everyone after (free!!!) lunch with Whitney and Jed took us on a tour of “The Hills.” Which was ridiculous. Those neighborhoods.. those houses.. all so insane. But it was pretty cool, I’ll admit.
The highlight was when we found the perfect look out over all of LA:
Needless to say, we felt like we were on top of the world.
The night, we hooked up with a former IC roadie, Blake and he took us out for pizza, showed us a view of downtown LA from a sketchy apartment building, and introduced us to the guys from Apolis clothing, who were so kind as to give us some t-shirts and hoodies.
Sunday was a particularly good day for Ben and I because it was what we call a FREE DAY! :) It’s pretty self-explanatory, but in case you didn’t catch it, it means we didn’t have to pay for ANYTHING. Which is good when you’re living off of $10 a day.
Overall, great weekend and a wonderful wrap up to the first week of tour.
