Two days of vacation because of 1 May : time to catch up with some blogs and to look for the new crusade on the street team of green pepper press.
I participated in the crusade in the beginning of this month with stencils in my house and more stencils in the house and the use of masks. I promised Michelle that I would make more homework, but due to the worries for my father-in-law, the work at school and home, I didn’t cut any stencil out anymore this month.
When I was looking for the new crusade, I discovered that Michelle elongated the crusade until the 7 th of March ( because she’s off for a teaching weekend : wish I could once follow one of her workshops...).
I was also wày behind to look at all the other participants who made stencils and so I discovered the digital stencilling Suzanna did and the tutorial she made. Take a look at her blog to see the tutorial !
That was just the tickle I needed to get started ! So, thank you Suzanne !
I first scanned the image of an ornament (book : “ornaments : patterns for interior decoration by Natascha Kubisch and Pia Anna Seger )

With the instructions Suzanne gave I turned this image into a stencil ànd I saved it as a custom brush.
I’ve been playing with photoshop yesterdayevening and this morning to discover the possibilities and these are two results :

I used the “stencil” I saved as a custom brush, made a layer underneath it and painted it purple with my paint bucket. On a new layer I distressed the purple background with a dry brush with white paint ( put it on a very low flow : about 10) .
After that I colored parts of the stencil in different layers ( so you can throw the layer away if you’re not satisfied without distroying the work you do like).
I used different brushes on a low flow : wet sponge, dry brush,...
I also made a digital collage : “gardenfairy”

Isn’t she cute ?
Thanks to Michelle’s crusade and Suzanne tutorial I learned new things with photoshop and it’s fun !

crusade n°19 : “cut it out goes digital”...
