This is another picture of the cedar tree with the incredible antler rub. One of the fourth graders found the tip of an antler wedged in the groove of the tree. We repositioned the antler tip so that you could see it.
Cedar trees grow slowly and this tree’s size speaks to it age. It may have been growing in this spot since the early 1900’s and it may have been a tree frequented by bucks for generations. The area around Pike included some orchards and this cedar watched that agricultural process come and go.
