Who We Are
We are moms in Round Rock, Texas, who have children of all ages and seek to encourage each other through the word of God. Most attend Christ The Rock Church, but we welcome participation from parents, both in our community and online.
What We are Studying
Our Course of Study will include the The Power of the Praying Parent, by Stormie Omartian and the Bible, which is the inherent Word of God and therefore our ultimate authority. Our topics of discussion will incorporate different aspects of a child’s life: safety, relationships with God and peers, adolescence and character development.
Who's Your Daddy?
Before we begin praying, it is imperative that we know to whom we are
speaking. God is not some impersonal spirit that appears as "Allah" to
some and "Vishnu" to others. (Oprah is SO wrong on this!) He is the God of the
Bible, who simply introduced himself to Moses as "I AM" (Exodus 3:14). He
is eternal (Genesis 1:1), all-powerful,(1 Corinthians 6:14) and
all-knowing (Isaiah 46:9-11). He's not three separate gods, but one God of three
persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 10:30, Matthew 28:19) If it
sounds complicated and confusing, it's because it is. Theologians much
smarter than us have tried to wrap their noodles around this one and have
only come up with more questions. But think about it: Would you want a
god you could totally intellectually understand? Or do you think that the God
of the Universe may be just a little too complex to totally comprehend?
He is holy, just, perfect, and yes, loving. But since He is perfect, we
could never have a relationship with Him because we are sinful. Sin isn't just
the bad things we do, it's the good that we don't do. The same way your
child inherited your blue eyes or quirky smile, he was born sinful.
(Would any parent of a human child dispute the fact that kids have a sinful
nature?!!?) Since our relationship with God was severed by our
disobedience and rebellion against Him, He took it upon Himself to repair it. His
perfect justice was satisfied at the cross of Jesus Christ, who is truly
God and truly human in every way, but without sin.(Philippians 2:6-11) Jesus
took every sin that has ever been committed upon Himself and suffered the
wrath of God which we deserved. Trust in Jesus and the power of His
resurrection give us the white robe of being right with God. We stand before Him, perfect in His eyes, because of what Jesus did. As we believe that Jesus is our Savior, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our heart.(Luke 1:35, John 20:22) He gives us strength to love with God's love, to forgive with God's forgiveness, to be the godly spouses, parents, and friends that He wants us to be. It is a NEW LIFE that begins here on earth and continues after death when we will live forever in heaven!(Revelation 7:14) So by the Spirit, we can call God "Daddy" (Galatians 4:6) and He will listen and answer our prayer. In fact, even when we don't know what to pray for or can't articulate the words, the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf. (Romans 8:26-27) That's the God to whom we pray!
