Zin - Zan the Jewel of Africa
Zin - Zan the Jewel of Africa
Zin Zan is a imaginary country in Africa that was thought up by Paul Hooper and Paul Mileham as a setting for our on going wargames campaign using the excellent AK 47 rules by Peter Pig. Many of the games are played at Great Yarmouth Wargames Club and many club members join in.
It all started at the end of 1999 when we were looking around for something different to game. We saw an excellent AK 47 game put on at the Salvo Wargames Show in Colchester UK and went straight out and bought a couple of Peter Pigs ready made armies. Since then things have spiraled out of control and now amongst the members of the club with some twenty five armies now available.
Much of the history and background has grown over the years under the eye of Paul Mileham, while Paul Hooper has been responsible for the flags and armies. Much of our scenery was constructed by Andy Cole with his excellent linka system. Production never seems to stop on both constructing armies and the scenery and also the background.
Although a rather sketchy map of Zin Zan does exist we have up until now kept the geography of Zin Zan fairly open, thus justifying just about any scenario we wanted to put on. A map has now appeared on the website but we still feel free to ignore it.
Although many armies are the rather desirable Peter Pig figures we also use QRF for vehicles along with many toys bought from the likes of Toys R Us and other local toy shops. In fact DAZ is about to benefit with a MRL bought from Wilkinsons as part of a play set!
