Pipedown...
were formed in 1998. Drawing on influences from Scottish and Irish traditions, together with worldwide folk and pipe music, the result has been a powerful and distinctive sound.
Winners of a Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections Festival in 2001, their debut CD ‘The First Measure’ was released by Greentrax in February 2002 followed by ‘Roag’ in October, 2006.
The Band
Axel Campbell (mandolin, mandola)
From the Isle Of Harris in the Western Isles, Axel has played guitar, bass and mandolin in Edinburgh since 1993 and is now resident in Harris.
Steve Fivey (percussion)
From Denny near Falkirk, Steve teaches at the Feisan and Gordon Gathering organisations. He is currently a member of Denny and Dunipace Pipes and Drums, having previously been a member of the Drum Corps in the City Of Edinburgh Pipe Band (formerly Scottish Gas Pipe Band).
Lee Moore (bagpipes, smallpipes, whistles)
From Co. Tyrone in Northern Ireland, Lee has been playing since the age of eight and has recenty moved from the David Urquhart Travel Pipes and Drums to the newly formed Glasgow Pipes and Drums. He is also a tutor for the ALP (Adult Learning Project) Scots Music Group in Edinburgh.
Steve Reid (guitar)
Since 1988, Steve has played guitar with New Celeste, a rock and jazz influenced Celtic band from Scotland, with whom he has recorded three CDs. Steve is currently learning the Highland pipes and remote virtual guitar.
