Fast Facts

  1. Bullet Halos of Hope provides free chemo caps to cancer patients. Each month we provide more than 500 caps to oncology centers, cancer treatment centers, and hospitals throughout the Central States.

  2. Bullet We believe that no one going through chemotherapy should have to bear an expense for a cap to comfort them.

  3. Bullet Caps are donated by volunteers who knit, crochet and sew them. We always need crafters to make caps. Click here for more information and cap patterns.

  1. Bullet Financial donations are tax deductible.  Even the smallest donation ($5.00) sends 20 caps to one of our centers. Donations pay for postage and handling to get the caps to the oncology offices, hospitals and cancer centers we serve.

  1. Bullet- Cancer diagnoses continue to grow. 1.4 million people are expected to be diagnosed in the US; 500,000 of these parents, brothers, sisters, and friends will be in the Central States region of our nation.  With those statistics, you likely know someone fighting a battle with Cancer.

  1. BulletThank you for your kindness and generosity. We hope your loved ones remain on the giving side of our crusade.

THANK YOU!

We salute those who have volunteered to serve with us.  The generous souls who make our caps, or donate money so we can continue to ship & distribute the caps free of charge; those individuals who give of their time, their energy and their love to make a difference in someone else’s life.  These volunteers are the heart of our mission.

Halos of Hope heard the call to service when our founder was diagnosed with cancer in 2004.  She knew when her treatments were done, and she was cancer-free, she would help others.

One raised hand said “I will.”  Halos of Hope deeply appreciates the many, many volunteer hands that have knitted, crocheted, or sewed the thousands of caps; caps that continue to be needed to comfort the bald heads of cancer patients in our communities.

For those who wish to serve, we need you.  Almost 500,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer in the Midwest in the coming year.  One hundred thousand of these people will likely need chemotherapy.  These individuals have more important goals on which to concentrate than finding, and paying for, a cap to comfort their balding head.

I'm blessed to be a full time wife and critter mom to our 3 ponies, mini mule and toy poodle on our Miracle Acres in Friendship, WI.  I also love sewing fleece hugs for all our kids, grandkids and friends.  This year, a dear friend of ours came down with lung cancer and I got the idea to make him a fleece happy head hug that would guarantee to bring smiles. Well, it certainly did and others were asking how they could get one. I made up a dozen for him to pass along and then discovered your miracle organization.  If ever there was a clear 'sign' of how I could use my abilities to help others, finding Chicagoland Head Huggers was definitely IT!!

Hi!  I'm Rosemary Braun and I live in Arlington Heights with my husband of 35 years (we got married when we were in kindergarten!).  We have two grown children, our daughter, Marci, and our son, Kevin.  I've been involved with Chicagoland Headhuggers from its inception.  Pam is an amazing woman and in this short time, she has truly has made a difference in so many lives.  The people I've met are all amazed by this wonderful organization.  I have no idea how many caps I've crocheted over the years, but each one was done with love and with the hope of bringing a little joy to someone going through a difficult time.

In 2008, Rosemary donated over 150 hats and raised more than $500 for our charity!  So far this year, she has donated over 70 hats.
