Student Employment at PGSP

Student Employment Overview

There are several opportunities for students to find employment at PGSP.  Students work in Federal Work-Study Programs (FWS) as well as Institutional Employment.  Wages are the same for either type of employment.  The difference is that for jobs classified as FWS an applicant must have demonstrated financial need and are partially paid with federal funds.  Students considered for FWS funding must have completed the financial aid process and demonstrate financial need.  The Financial Aid Office works with students to complete this process.

Student employment jobs should not be considered “living wages”.  They are part time opportunities.

Students are not awarded a job as part of the financial aid process.  At PGSP jobs are posted and students apply for the job.  If a student is hired a determination will be made if the worker will be classified as FWS or Institutional.  The rates of pay for each type of employment are the same, payment schedules are the same, etc.
