Statewide drought declared by Governor Schwarzenegger reminds everyone to pay more attention to water conservation in Rosamond says Jack Stewart, Interim General Manager of Rosamond Community Services District (RCSD).

He does not expect local water rates to increase immediately and supplies presently meet demand. However RCSD plans to do a rate study to make sure present rates not only meet delivery costs now but also replacement costs in future when tanks, pipes, pumps or treatment facilities need update.

"This drought also stimulates our desire to go ahead with water banking so eventually we'll have a long-term supply. But conservation now will put us all in a much better position." he said at RCSD headquarters on Thursday, June 5, 2008.
