Who buys nine buildings for $1 apiece?

Al Shanefield does, with the help of Superintendent Stan Halperin and a thrifty Board of Trustees, Bird, Distaso, Rocha, Layton and Sexton.

These buildings measure 24' x 60' and are Department of State Architecture approved inside and out. Manufactured in 1997 or later, the Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District (AADUSD) Director of Facilities Management and Transportation has inspected each building on site and finds them to be in very good condition.

"We have to pay to move them to Vasquez High School and set them up but they will be ours and we can stop paying rent on classrooms like we do now. It's still a heck of a lot cheaper than buying new buildings and the worst one of the nine is way better than our best one," beams Shanefield with good reason.

President of the AADUSD Board of Trustees, Mark Distaso, calls this a "Win Win" for both AADUSD and the schools getting rid of the modular classrooms because those schools won't have to pay for dismantling classrooms they won't use after class size reduction ends due to state budget cuts.

Moving and set up will cost about $165,000. which the Board voted to pay and be done with it.

Superintendent Halperin says this is a great boost for the school and everyone in AADUSD.
