Chickens
We have an Araucana and a Barred Rock hen. The each lay an egg a day and Ms. Motl’s class is collecting the eggs. These chickens are fairly tame. Araucana chickens are famous for their unusually colored eggs. They can lay eggs that are brown, green, pinkish, and speckled.

Malaysian Serama Chickens
Malaysian Serama are miniature bantam chickens. As adults they are very small; some as small as a can of beans. They have a very good disposition and make great pets. We currently have 3 chicks. We do not know whether they are hens or roosters yet. They are pretty docile already and with regular handling will be very tame for the kids to interact with. We will keep them in a large cage that can be moved inside or outside and will give them time to forage for bugs in the courtyard.

Finches
We currently have 4 finches in our aviary. We have both zebra finches and society finches. They are fun to watch fly around from branch to branch through the window in the gym hall. The society finch has a beautiful song.
