Hi Bruce,
Spent the day with my nose pressed against the window like a kid waiting to catch a glimpse of Santa. UPS showed up at about 3:00 PM. They left it in the box in the bushes with just a quick rap on my door. Nincompoops!... Anyway, Deni got the camera and started snapping pictures as soon as I opened the door. I'll download and send them to you tomorrow.
The Celt Arrived
You know, I have been looking at pictures of the Celt being created for months now. But to finally have it. To see it and hold it and hear it in the flesh (or wood)... I am speechless. Opening the case was like welcoming home an old friend. It glistens. She has such understated elegance. She is imbued with subtle details that will have people staring at it for hours (I know I have). And I can't wait to show her off. Every detail is perfect and balanced. The inlays are flawless. The seams are invisible. The set up is terrific. The finish is thick and lush. The tonewood combinations we selected are perfect. It has a voice that is otherworldly. She sounds better than I could have imagined. It is crisp and loud. It sparkles yet commands attention at the lower register. Of course I played bits and pieces of every complicated standard tune I knew, then I tuned to DADGAD to test its chops at Celtic. I heard melodies I have never heard before, despite the fact that I have been playing them for years on my other Applecreek.
Bruce... I mean... Holy Smokes. This guitar is extraordinary -- more than I ever imagined. You and Matthew are so incredibly talented. What you have created here is a Master Work. In my mind, you have just moved the luthier's art to the next level. If the community of fine guitar enthusiasts have any foresight at all, they will see the same thing. You have made my dream come true. I love this guitar. I love the experience I had with you and Matthew in its creation. This was worth every hour of anticipation. I will miss our daily interface, but remain your friend and ally for life. I will definitely stay in close contact, hopefully making it to Kaukauna in the near future to meet you in person and take you all to dinner.
Thank you Bruce, from the bottom of my heart. God Bless.
With love and admiration,
Tom
