The Best Way to Wake Up

Isaiah was sick during the night, and once again, I did the night shift with him. After being awake for what seemed an endless number of hours, I was begging God for rest, dreaming of renting a hotel room, blacking out the sun, and sleeping for 24 hours straight.

But, at 5:38, long before the sun even thinks of waking up, all of a sudden there were trumpets ricocheting their immense sound between the walls of the houses in our neighborhood! (Not the Rapture, I am sure.)

Soon, guitars, violins, and a huge chorus of mariachis were serenading some lucky birthday boy outside his house, and we all got to enjoy it. I actually thought it was one of the most awesome ways I have ever been brought out of the unconscious world. They stayed and played for an entire hour, and I think I must have laid in my bed smiling, exhausted, but smiling the whole time until I gradually fell back asleep.

When 6:30 rolled around, I was fast asleep, and enjoyed the quiet until almost 8! A true gift.
