The challenge for enterprise development

According to Professor Michael MARQUARDT, contemporary organisations face five challenges:

  1. The increased complexity of modern organisational problems

  2. The need for new leadership attributes and capabilities

  3. The increased importance of effective, high performing teams

  4. The increased need to capture and transfer valued knowledge,

  5. The greater need for learning - and the less time for that learning to occur (Marquardt, 2004, p. 14-15)

Welcome: My designs for effective learning

I began my career as a teacher of strategic leadership two decades ago. Over these decades, my approach to teaching has evolved in response to my experience of similar challenges to those identified by Marquardt. Consequently, this site shares my experience creating and implementing purpose-built learning environments informed by the following curriculum design questions:

  1. How can we develop learners, teachers, and trainers so that they are more risk-taking and innovative in their performance?

  2. How do we implement coaching strategies that ensure our learning partners develop confidence in applying the skills and knowledge that they learn?

  3. How do we create engaging, effective, and significant learning environments for a chaordic world?

My focus

My focus is especially on learning partners (teachers, students) interested in sustainable enterprise development, entrepreneurship, business development, and leadership.

I present both substantial examples of my contribution, and my smaller forays on a variety of ‘hobby horses’ such as academic writing for students of a modern international business school!

Please enjoy, use, and let me know how their usefulness can be improved.
