Dr Peter MacPherson MBCHB MPH Dip-HIV

 
 

I currently work as the Senior Medical Officer in HIV/AIDS at the Rixile Clinic, Tintswalo Hospital, Limpopo, South Africa. In addition to caring for over 6500 people with HIV/AIDS and being a Government Antiretroviral distribution site, the clinic is an international research collaboration between the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.


In addition, I am a Lecturer in Public Health at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. This involves lecturing medical students and postgraduate students in aspects of HIV, rural and community health as well as developing and running research projects.


I qualified as a medical doctor with Honours from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland in 2003. My awards included The Anderson Medal in Medicine, The Sir Duguld Baird Medal in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and City of Aberdeen Quincentenary Prize for the best student in the University.


In Spetember 2004, I won a Kennedy Memorial Scholarship to study at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, USA. I completed a Masters of Public Health, concentrating in International Health and Infectious Diseases.
