The founding members of London Legacy 2020 stepped forward to help to secure a lasting physical, social and economic legacy from the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. They do this by orchestrating a “Legacy Board” that maintains a permanent focus on the physical, social and economic legacy and help prioritise the effort of multiple agencies, and therefore help represent the legacy ambitions of the East End. Implementation boards around themes of youth and sport, culture and the arts, jobs and enterprise: identify practical projects to support. We work only at the invitation of government and community partners. To date, with these partners we have leveraged over £5m and have supported some 30 projects with 500 private sector volunteers giving legal and business advice and mentoring.
We welcome new members who can add value to the work.
Donations from members fund the work of a small team who act as scouts and project managers to ensure delivery. Companies may also elect to fund particular projects that appeal to them.
