I recently had to give a short talk about future trends in the computer & networks field so I made a video of my presentation which is available here. The basic argument (inspired in part by Benkler’s “Wealth of Networks”) is that one of the most radical, deep, changes has occurred in the past 5-10 years as a result of the wide distribution of computer + communications, the deep need to form social networks, and a lot of latent, untapped creativity and knowledge. It argues that the winners in this area will exploit a new kind of integrated basic science and engineering.
