Womens Rugby starts at Penryn RFC

An open evening on Wednesday 29 July at 7 pm for both beginners and experienced players signals the start of women’s rugby at Penryn RFC, the oldest club in Cornwall.

With support from the RFUW and the Cornwall RFU the club is looking to recruit newcomers to the sport aged 17+ as well as local girls with some experience. A number of coaches are available to develop players of all abilities from basic skills training to the more experienced, with fitness training for all.

The club has excellent playing facilities on offer adjacent to CUC Tremough campus and Penryn Sports College and is well served by both local bus and train services.

PRFCW Chairman Peter Le Patourel commented, “ we are uniquely positioned here in Penryn to offer women’s team sport and would welcome newcomers of all abilities who will be supported by our team of coaches. A structure based on some new women’s rugby teams in Cornwall and Devon is now emerging and we plan to be offering both friendly fixtures and league rugby as soon as possible.”
