High School Technology Lesson-Content Area CD
High School Technology Lesson-Content Area CD
The procedure in this lesson differs from High School Technology Lesson-Presentation 1 only in the software chosen to create the final product and in collaboration with the teacher for whom the CD is intended.
Students in a Web Design class choose a subject area in which they have some expertise or at least interest. Then then design a web page for that teacher. This web page is “burned” onto a CD with a custom label made with Photoshop, and a copy of the CD is given to the content area teacher.
Using the student created CD, the content area teacher then has a resource that can be used to review the specific subject by using a LCD projector, or a resource that can “permanently” be uploaded to that teacher’s content web page, or a resource that can be given to a student who needs a review or needs to catch up on work missed in that area.
By creating the project in HTML, the teacher has the assurance that the material on that piece of plastic will last as long as there are web browsers out there that can read it. My guess is that the hardware to read the CD will be available for at least 10 years after creation.
