Last Summer, it was backpacking in the Cascade
Mts. with my nephew and his family. This year I am embarking on an adventure of a lifetime traveling with 30 other women over the Southern Tier trail from San Diego to Florida through rural America. I’m excited about this adventure and will try to keep you all posted on our daily doings!

We will be escorted into St. Augustine by the fire department and police - should be great. Today was a nice ride - very pretty with the spanish moss on the trees, etc. We had lunch , see above. at Alligator’s Landing on the St. John River - really nice!! Alligator tastes like chicken. We stopped first at 31 flavors for a sundae - I like desert before lunch!! :)

It was through some interesting countryside again and we stopped at fun places. First stop was at a cafe owned by the family of one of our riders- great food!! Next stop was at Ichetucknee Springs Park - a beautiful place with a pool that was great for swimming if you don’t mind snakes swimming with you!! Next stop was Floyds dinner for ice cream, etc. You see how our days go. The 83 miles went quickly and we got to our “Days Inn” motel - not the greatest. Two more days to go - over 3,000 miles behind us - can’t believe it!!

However, our motel was the Hampton Inn - what service!!! Served wine, strawberries dipped in chocolate and just about every kind of drimk you could want - we had quite a party and since it was raining we got to eat inside around tables instead of on our white plastic chairs outside - small pleasures :)

We stopped at Wal Mart for supplies as we are rather out in the country with no real eating establishments so tomorrow on our day off we can picnic!! Our day of was fun - we rode to Wakulla Springs park and took a boat ride down the River - 200 million gallons of water feed it every month - saw all kinds of animal life - fun!!!

We had a fantastic dinner as usual and an early evening as we change time zones to Eastern and lose an hour today.

My pictures of the “clothesline” is what most of our Motel grounds look like after we descend!!! What modesty!!
The other is of several ants moving a potato chip across the driveway, up a curb and into the grass!!!!

It went relatively quickly - although, we had a 13-15 mph wind in our face all day. Judy and I drafted the whole way changing every 10 miles at first and then every 5 miles so that helped a lot!! The Floriday Panhandle is really pretty boring compared to some of the country we have travelled through.

The picture above is one from Mississippi!! Tried to get a longhorn all the way through Texas to no avail but love this one.

Our ride took us through the Black Forest for about 10 miles and then our lunch stop at the cozy corner Grill - love the sign!!!

Not long now - we only have about a week to go :(
