Research Interests

Mathematical skill is vital in our society. In comparison to literacy, however, less is known about the precursor abilities that support mathematics.

My research interest lies in the field of numerical cognition in both adults and children. More specifically, I seek to understand the cognitive and neuropsychological abilities that facilitate the development of number representations, and the form of our number representations. In my interdisciplinary research program, I employ methods from cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience, as well as computational modeling.

As part of the Count Me In research team, I am examining the precursors to mathematical skill in primary school children. My research focuses on both cognitive and neuropsychological predictors of mathematical skills. A goal of my research program is to identify pathways to mathematical success.
