Penketh High School Governors

Welcome to you all from the Governors at Penketh High School. The web site offers us an excellent opportunity to let you all know about the governance in the school and how it works and to keep you better informed. To introduce myself I am the Chair of Governors John Holmes and have been involved with the school for some years. I have listed the governors and who appointed or elected them.

As you will be aware we have just appointed a new Headteacher Mr Jeff Hughes who took up his post on 1st of January 2009. The school drive to become an outstanding school will continue and the pupils at Penketh will continue to benefit from the teaching of our dedicated staff.

The governors have agreed that we will post the minutes of the meetings on the site once they have been approved, unfortunately this does mean that there will be about 3 months delay after the meeting. Currently the minutes are in the school reception area for anyone wishing to read them so being on the web will be more convenient for parents. The minutes for the last couple of meetings will be on for September and the minutes built up from there.

Governors work within the framework provided by the Law on Governance and we follow those rules carefully. If you wish to contact any of the governors they can be contacted by mail or messages left at the school. This should not be the first point of contact and if you have concerns about your child please go through the process following and it is only when these have been exhausted that governors get involved. The normal route is form tutor, head of house, deputy, head teacher then governors. You will find that queries are answered more effectively using this route. As a governing body we decided some years ago to employ a clerk separately from the school. The clerk is Mrs Irene Coates and she work for the governors so is very much independent of the school. You can contact her by writing to the school or leaving a message, she does not work in the school full time.
