Small Press Idol ‘08

So I entered this year’s Small Press Idol, presented by Dimestore Productions, with writer Eric Williams. There are several rounds to go through and we’re currently at round 2.

Round 2 asked for character turns (which I know I didn’t do that well, so I’ll save myself the embarrassment of posting them here) as well as action poses of the characters.

Well, from the feedback from the contest judges, I pretty much stink. Good thing I’m going back to school, eh? I simplified my work for the action poses and actually felt I was developing a good feel of simplifying my work while still conveying the overall idea. I was very happy with them overall... but one judge said it looked like I rushed them out and could’ve done better.

I’m sure he’s right, but I didn’t rush...

The art being on the aged paper didn’t go over well either. Our entry is based on the Battle of Hastings and I thought that the paper would help convey the idea of it all being historic. A risk that, clearly, fell flat.http://www.dimestoreproductions.comshapeimage_2_link_0

I had to create 12 action poses in total - 4 for each main character. These are just my top 3 of the bunch. 3 out of 12. Sad, yeah?
