A copy of the Family Bible entry says Jonathan was born in Glasgow, Parish of Kilbride.
On 30 Jun 1820 when Jonathan was 25, he married Mary GOLDIE, daughter of Thomas GOLDIE & Agnes McRAE, in Coltburn, Ayrshire, Scotland.10 Born on 8 Dec 1800 in Coltburn, Ayrshire, Scotland.10 Mary died in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, on 27 Nov 1854; she was 53.11
Mary arrived with 4 of her children at Geelong, Victoria, Australia on 31 March 1852 aboard the "Cambodia" a vessel of 914 tons, also on board was another daughter, Mary along with her husband and their three children, who were bound for the goldfields. There are eleven children of Jonathan and Mary listed on Mary's death certificate, James and the first John had their ages are given as 0 although James reached at least 10 years by 1841, there was evidence of another son, Jonathan who was Christened on the same day as Agnes and was her twin.

Born on 28 Feb 1820 in Muirkirk, Ayrshire, Scotland. Jonathan died bef 1823; he was 2.
Jonathan appears on two OPR indexes as being christened at Muirkirk on the same day as Agnes, March 1st. 1820, they were twins, it's likely that he died prior to the birth of the next child named Jonathan in 1823.

Allan.
Born on 16 May 1828 in Muirkirk, Ayrshire, Scotland. Allan died in Brunswick, Victoria, Australia, on 7 Feb 1884; he was 55.12 Buried on 9 Feb 1884 in Melbourne General Cemetery, Victoria, Australia.13
Allan arrived in Victoria in 1852, gave his occupation on his wedding certificate as Miner, Allan and Jessie had no children. He was the first licensee of the Court House Hotel in Sydney Road, Brunswick, which was built in 1858 on Lobb's Hill opposite Brunswick's first municipal offices and the courthouse. He owned several properties and land in Brunswick, Staley Street which is off Blyth Street was named after him, he probably owned land in the area. He was a councillor in Brunswick from 1868-1870 and 1872-1882, and Mayor in 1872/73 and 1876/77. Allan's estate operated until at least 1906. OCCUPATION: Probate Records describe him as a "gentleman", on his marrige certificate he was a Miner, the passenger list for the "Cambodia" described him as an agricultural labourer, so he did very well in his 30 or so years in his new country. Allan and Jessie sailed for london on the "Somersetshire" in April 1870.
On 14 Jul 1854 when Allan was 26, he married Janet (Jessie) Brown DODS, daughter of William DODS (1805-1882) & Margaret Murray FERGUSON (~1803-1879), in Brunswick, Victoria, Australia.14 Born on 3 Oct 1832 in At Sea On "North Briton". Janet (Jessie) Brown died in Dandenong, Victoria, Australia, on 4 Oct 1903; she was 71.14
Jessie lived in Tasmania and was Baptised in Hobart Town, her family came to Victoria in July 1838, after Allan's death it's believed she was the Licensee of the Court House Hotel, in 1888 she married again to William Elder, she was described as an Independent Gentlewoman on her death certificate, William had predeceased her in 1896 at Brunswick.

James did not come to Australia and was possibly deceased prior to the family leaving Scotland, the last record of him was with the family in the 1841census which has him as an Iron Miner
