Athletic Training Room Policies Rehabilitation Prior to Taping
Before any athlete is taped (excludes visiting teams), they have to perform a rehabilitation program. The rehabilitation program is to strengthen the injury and eventually lead to a day where taping is not needed. In the Andrew Athletic Training Room, tape is not used for fashion. Tape is used to help support and prevent further injury.

Use of Ice Machine
Due to space constraints, the athletic training room ice machine will be used for therapeutic reasons only. Ice cannot be used for water bottles. In the past, such use has led to overcrowding in the athletic training room.

Late
All athletes are responsible for reporting to the coaches and being on time to practice. Athletes can complete their rehabilitation program within a few minutes and arrive to practice on time. If for some reason the athletic trainer keeps the athlete past the start of practice, then the coach will be notified by the athletic trainer.

Release from the Athletic Training Room
Athletes are expected to be in the athletic training room everyday until they are informed that they are released from any rehabilitation responsibilities. Coaches will be informed of missed days in the athletic training room.

Doctor Notes
If an athlete visits a doctor, the athlete needs to present the athletic trainer with a doctor’s note. The note will instruct the athletic trainer of the rehabilitation program for the athlete. In order to participate in their sport again, athletes that see doctors will need to present a doctor’s note that allows the athlete to return to play. Until the athletic trainer possesses such a note, the athlete will not be eligible to partake in school sponsored sports. For those athletes in need of Electric Stimulation and/or Ultrasound treatments, you need to have a doctor’s note to receive such treatments.

Appropriate Footwear
When entering the athletic training room all athletes must not wear spikes, cleats, or sandals. Wearing the appropriate footwear, such as closed-toe gym shoes or dress shoes will prevent injury and help maintain a clean working environment in an allied health professional’s office.
