On May 1st I started the longest bike ride I have ever endured, I left Savannah Georgia to destination Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Florida, where my mother currently resides. My plan was to be there for mother’s day (sorry mom) but since I was a rookie on the entire thing, rookie mistakes were done... One, and the most costly one, was not reading the map correctly ( Florida is South bound Pedro not NORTH) on THE FIRST DAY! Setting I, not only 80 miles on the wrong direction (40 out and 40 to regain ground) but leaving me well out of schedule and broke down from a stressful 100 mile day! (The average was suppose to be between 50-60 miles a day)

Along the way I saw everything I expect, and lots that I did not. I found how hard I can actually push myself when needed, not only physically, but my own personal/ psychological strength. The solitude was liberating, and at times my own company was misery. I know I can be very annoying...

For most part people are still good, sometimes beyond good, as the Smith family in Sattila River GA. After seeing me coming back from a camp site, probably with a desperate look on my face, that was closed for over a year they were kind enough to let me set camp (see pics and video) on their back yard, they open their doors for a complete stranger and I can honestly not say what would have happened if they had not been so kind! (It was past 6 in the middle of nowhere...)

Mother nature can still astonish you with the simplest things, or keep you up the entire night with her raccoons and possums :0) (Rookies bring ear plugs if you plan on sleeping on campsites, Ipods not enough for the little rascals...)

South Georgia is desolate but is also where you find perseverance and your true-self! Florida is beautiful but the winds will almost bring you back to where you started... (Is easier to climb the Cali mountains)

At the end I would do all over again!!! And as a matter of fact I am already planing my next one, even BIGGER...

(TBA)

PS: My DEEPEST gratitude goes for all those that made this trip possible (you know how you are), and those that made easier for me to keep going the days that I did not wanted to. You all helped me achieve another little goal in my life, and for that I love you!

I also dedicate all my efforts to my uncle Tom and aunt Janette that are now facing stuff 10 times harder than any bike ride I can plan, and they both take in stride!!!

PSII: I will upload videos (some are hilarious) as soon as I have edit it all! So consider this a “soft opening” whatever that means...
